Amara Flash SlideShow Builder is a flash album and slideshow creator.

As a web developer I have always dreamed about a tool just like this. In a few clicks you can obtain a really nice flash slideshow with minimum effort.

The interface is well structured and you can access very fast every function. You can add very easily images and sound. For every image you can add custom text. In fact there are custom settings for everything. You can even add a second flash movie that will run in the foreground.

I like the way you can pick up a template for your slideshow. That template can be customized and you can also save your own templates. The users who want to change how the slideshow works can do this very easily because there is an option in the 'Effects' area.

The image formats supported are bmp, jpg/jpeg, png and gif. I didn't have the impression something is missing because I could find there everything I would want from this kind of application. The slides are very easy to add and you can even add a hyperlink with every slide. You can also set the frame where it should target.

Another thing that can make a difference in your slideshow is the background sound support. You can add wav/mp3 sounds limited to 44/22/11 kHz sample rate. I did try to add a 48 kHz sample rate sound and I couldn't. The producers recommend to recode the sound in one of those sample rates and I recommend that too. You can set either to play the sound once or to loop it forever. The option for sound volume is there so you won't have any trouble in obtaining the desired audio background.

Another thing that I like is the fact that the application is very low on resources.

Pluses: very intuitive interface and easy to use, low resources, high stability of the application, the application saves the last settings that you have used so you won't lose any of your work in case you accidentally shut it down.

Drawbacks / flaws: the minimize button is missing so if you want to do that you will have to click it in the taskbar.


In conclusion: a really nice and helpful application for web designers who want to create fast and easy flash slideshows for their web pages.
